Winners’ Camp is a 501(c)3 non-profit Educational Foundation that has been providing programs for academic institutions and educational foundations for almost 40 years.
The program is a week-long residential accelerated learning program self-identity for teens ages 13-17. The program is designed to enhance teenagers’ academic performance and social proficiency, giving them tools to make positive choices.
Winners’ Camp has “graduated” over 20,000 participants and over 1,500 graduate support staff. Participants learn to create a positive sense of self-identity through a safe, supportive environment where they breakthrough self-imposed limitations. By conquering challenging outdoor events, teens learn to recognize their courage and self-confidence.
Teens are encouraged to develop concern for others through teamwork and team-building. In “taking a chance” on others – learning to trust – they discover the rich rewards of close and reliable friends. Instruction in conflict resolution and advanced communication techniques provide them with realistic ways to improve cooperation in their lives.
Our campers learn specific techniques to improve skills, such as accelerating note-taking, memory training, visualization and creative thinking techniques, and self-management methods. However, the major force in improving grades and academic ability is the development of positive and constructive attitudes about their own capabilities.
Winners’ Camp Foundation was founded in 1985 by Delorese Malulani Gregoire and a team of committed graduates of Marshall Thurber’s “Business and You” Lifeskills Courses. Key players were Vic Quiton, Guy Tucker, Dr.Trinidad Hunt, Michael Wall, Dr.Stephanie Burns, Mick Quenzer, Pam Chambers and Anthony Robbins. In the year 2000 we were blessed with a license to use Kamehame Ridge Site from the Kamehameha Schools Princess Pauahi Bishop Estate. We named the site Hawai’i Leadership Academy and we produce programs for Academic Institutions and Educational Foundations.
Delorese Gregoire is the Founding Director of Winners’ Camp. She has a rich history of working with teenagers and their families as President and Founder of Hawai’i Study Tours, which brought students from around the world to study in Hawai’i. In 1985 she directed a team of enthusiastic educators and created Winners’ Camp Foundation. She developed specialized programs with the Department of Education, the Department of Health, and private foundations, businesses,, and financial institutions; both private and public schools across the Islands, the Mainland, Japan and China.
In 2000 our director, Jeannette Emley Macaluso, first attended Winners' Camp as a camper and realized "This is my place." She returned on the weekends to help build up the site and to camps as a leader, facilitator and administrator, through high school and college, stepping aside when she began a family.
Her children attended camp after Covid in 2022 and they haven't left. She is now the Executive Director and works alongside her husband and children up at Winners' Camp.
