Why leaders need to attend twice as campers:
Attending Winners’ Camp for two different sessions before stepping into a leadership role is essential for a teen to develop the skills, experience, and trust necessary to guide others effectively. Here’s why:
Hands-On Experience with Events & Camp Operations:
During the first session, teens experience Winners’ Camp as participants—immersing themselves in workshops, challenges, and team activities. They learn the structure of the camp, engage in problem-solving, and observe how leaders facilitate transformations in others. By their second session, they have a deeper understanding of the camp’s flow, allowing them to contribute more confidently and assist in leading group activities, setting up events, and handling real-time challenges.
Personal Transformation & Growth:
The first session is about self-discovery—breaking through personal barriers, learning resilience, and stepping out of comfort zones. They develop confidence, discipline, and teamwork skills. The second session shifts their perspective from personal growth to helping others grow. By this point, they’ve internalized the camp’s principles and can lead by example, mentoring newer participants through challenges they once faced themselves.
Building Trust & Credibility with the Leadership Team:
The leadership team needs to see that a teen is not only capable but also committed to the camp’s values before handing them a leadership role. The second session allows the teen to demonstrate consistency, responsibility, and a willingness to serve. It also helps them integrate into the existing team, forming relationships that are crucial for effective leadership.
Ultimately, attending Winners’ Camp twice ensures that when a teen steps up as a leader, they are prepared—not just with knowledge but with real experience, personal transformation, and the trust of both their peers and mentors.
